How we do the homework for you. Our five step curation process.
An Expert Knowledge Base
Our sourcing practices start with a deep understanding of ingredients, genetics, and skin conditions. This is no fair fight - we’ve enlisted the best experts (dermatologists and estheticians) who have spent their careers diagnosing dermatological skin conditions and recommending the appropriate treatments with a high accuracy rate.
We leverage their medical expertise to understand which treatments are most effective for treating a specific skin condition for a unique profile (these factors include genetics, age, climate).
We effort to source emerging brands all over the world with the goal of creating holistic regimens to address the variation of skin types, ages, climates. There is no border when it comes to where we source.
We’ve compiled a list of toxic ingredients that mirror the EU standards. We update our list as new research comes out. We require MSDS lists from each brand (manufacturing standards) that clearly state formulations, including concentration of active ingredients for each product.
Once we’ve ensured the baseline standards of safety are met, we test for effectiveness and cross product efficacy. For this, we turn to our expert team and a cohort of Skin Allies ambassadors to use the product for a set amount of time (30 days) and report back on specific criteria we’ve deemed most important.
When we deem a product safe and effective, we go deeper with the maker, asking questions about their partners, process, and story.
We look for the same values in our brand founders and their manufacturing partners to ensure they align with our mission.
